Nerd Store TV Show
I opened this nighttime spectacular at Walt Disney World in 1998 and was the Show Control Crew Chief for it from 1999 to 2000 and 2002 to 2004. My responsibilities covered show control, mechanical FX, stage lifts, and a really big dragon. This included daily operation, training, and documentation as well as interfacing with the Maintenance, Safety, Entertainment, and Ride and Show Engineering.
As part of a team of 3 programmers in 2003, I designed new user interfaces and programmed the new Medialon, Wonderware, and AMX systems as part of a major upgrade. This new system was programmed to automatically detect problems and pop-up solutions for Operators. It also was the first redundant Medialon installation of its kind, where 2 systems could swap control of the show without interruption. This new system also introduced a method for pausing and resuming shows, previously not possible because of the show's film loop cabinets.
